The International Day of Yoga (IDY) is celebrated globally every year on 21st June following its adoption by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2014, based on the proposal of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
The year 2026 marks the 12th International Day of Yoga, reaffirming India's leadership in promoting Yoga as a holistic approach to health and well-being.
The theme for IDY 2026, "Yoga for Healthy Ageing", highlights the role of Yoga in promoting physical vitality, mental well-being, emotional balance, and healthy longevity across all age groups. Through regular practice, Yoga contributes significantly towards active lifestyles, disease prevention, stress reduction, and overall quality of life.
